[27112010] Pompeii, 8q, Megamind & Esplanade!

Saturday was the most fulfilling day I had in quite some time, thanks to the company of a certain friend! xD

I met YS in the afternoon at 2pm at Orchard as she wanted to get some magazines and a book for her brother. After that was the event that I was looking forward to for some weeks but never had the chance to go to! It's the Pompeii exhibition at the National Museum of Singapore, which is showing the exhibitions of artifacts from the unfortunate Roman city of Pompeii and the cast of people who died buried in volcano ashes!

The first sight when we went in was the plaster cast of a dog, lying in such a way that there was no doubt it's death has been painful. This dog has been dead almost two thousand years, but we can imagine what it's last sight was of. After that was more fascinating artifacts of Romans: statues of Venus, murals on walls, figurines of Gods, and more casts of dead Romans, including a couple, one whose which last act is to protect the other lying on the ground.

After that most excellent exhibition, we went to the 8q near SAM, where they were holding an exhibition on Japanese contemporary arts. We didn't get what most of the exhibition was about but it was still interesting enough, especially this one room with computer designs projected on the wall, which suddenly changed as we were still looking at the patterns. It was quite freaky. xD

By the time we finished looking at the exhibit and had our dinner, it was time to watch Megamind! It was a great movie about a person who adapted to his strengths after being outcasted. The movie try very hard to be funny and it really succeeded in that! It's proven by YS sitting beside me, she was laughing at every thing, even those that no one else in the cinema think was funny.... >_>

After the movie, it was still early so we took a walk to Esplanade, where we found a place near the waterfront to rest and talk. Well, I'm sure YS will pull through, it's not the first time she had problems and she always managed to find confidence in herself to come out stronger then ever! xD

So nearing midnight, we took the circle line where she dropped off before I continued on towards Bishan. Alas, it was already 12.30 when the train reached, so I walked home. Well, this was a journey I took dozens of times so I know it's just an hour walk home. Just right for a ending to a perfect Saturday night! xD
